America's fabulously rich deli owners

Another in a string of bizarrely absurd articles from Fortune magazine:

Obama's rude shock to six-figure earners

Among the bizarre claims in this article:

  • Apparently, deli owners earn salaries between $250,000 and $500,000 a year.
  • If you earn $300,000 a year and your taxes go up by $4,000 (slightly over 1 percent), that qualifies as 'sharply-rising taxes', a 'rude shock' and 'getting hammered'.
  • You can earn $500,000 a year and not be considered rich
Personally, I don't think taxes should ever be raised, because the government can easily save over a trillion a year without doing so, but this article is the work of a crazy person.
