2011 Single of the Year at the New Zealand Music Awards. Pretty addictive. I might listen to the radio if they played stuff like that.
You may have noticed that most Christmas songs are sappy sweet, unrealistic, or filled with religious gunk. So, here’s a nice antidote to that, a YouTube (free) version and a link to where you can buy the song. Don’t let the title dissuade you.

The truth is a lot of people find the holidays a particularly depressing time of year, partly due to the media blitz trying to tell you how happy and perfect (and full of material goods that their sponsors coincidentally are selling) your life should be.
Jay Brannan continues to delight with his new video:
Can’t Have it All
Some have called it cheezy (I won’t mention names!), but I love it. He continues to be a rare talent that, like most talented singers and bands, will probably never get radio or any mainstream play anywhere because they don’t fit into a specific category.
Eric and I were lucky enough to see Jay Brannan’s first performance ever in San Francisco last night and it was phenomenal. It was at Bottom of the Hill, which has probably the best sound system I’ve heard in a venue in a long time.
If you haven’t heard of Jay Brannan, he has some great videos up on YouTube:
Housewife - Music Video
Housewife - Live
Body’s a Temple - Music Video
Body’s a Temple - Live
Soda Shop - Live
Half-Boyfriend - Live
American Idol - Live
Straight Outta Compton - Live
goddamned - Live
Plus, you can buy his album on iTunes for $9.99 or buy the CD for $12 directly from his website.
Sadly, because his music doesn’t really fit neatly into a genre and his lyrics are unabashedly gay-themed, you’ll likely never hear them on the radio, at least in the USA.
